Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who's the Thinnest of Them All?

It's been almost a week so I've decided to update. On the me front there really isn't much to say. I'm still taking summer Chem and it's okay and I'm still unemployed. What can I say? My life isn't all that interesting.
Okay well if you haven't heard one of the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate specifically, is now in some undisclosed treatment center so that she could get help with some health-related issue, which apparently seems to be some sort of eating disorder, anorexia is what people believe it is, though the word from the Olsen camp is no comment. It still amazes me that people are still quite amazed that eating disorders seem to be disproportionably higher in Hollywood. Hello, this is a business where you are constantly judged on the way you look at that moment. And have you looked at the message that Hollywood gives? Thin is the status quo and those that can't fit that mold of the size 4 or smaller end up getting slammed by the media. It's now just Hollywood either, it's the entire media spectrum that endorses this message. I mean if you're not a tall, blue-eyed blonde with flawless skin and a size 4 then you're not in and you're definitely not thin enough either. Even the most self confident and most comfortable in their own skin can't help but feel that if i was just a bit skinner, or taller or had more perfect skin or hair then I'd be soo much prettier.
The Olsen twins are pretty thin to begin with but they've spent basically their entire life in front of the camera and it's bound to take its toll sometime. I mean you can only spend so much time in front of a camera and be judged by the public at large before you yield, no matter how little, to the pressure to be just a little bit thinner, prettier and perfect. So does that mean that all actors, child or adult, will fall victim to eating disorders and try to turn themselves into Twiggy? God I hope not and there will be those who'll never try to be that size 2 and be as thin as Calista Flockhart because they know that it's just not meant for them and they're fine with that and I salute them for that. It takes a truly mentally strong person who's comfortable in their skin to not yield to the pressure of being rail thin. Probably the only ways to at least cut down on the number of people, girls and women specifically, who have eating disorders in this country, is to show that even if you're not that size 0 it's okay, you're still beautiful. Beauty, as they say, is skin deep and in the eye of the beholder after all.
