Time To Use Your Thinking Caps
written on 2003-08-16, @ 8:00p.m..

Here's a little survey that I made up because I'm sick of seeing the same questions on all the surveys people email me. If you want to take this survey too go ahead. Email me your answers because I'm a curious person, just title it Time to use your thinking caps.

It's time to use your thinking caps.

1) Do you believe in magic of any kind?

I do but not in the wand waving kind of magic of the Harry Potter books. I believe that magic is much more subtle than that. I can't really explain it beyond that really but I definitely believe in magic.

2) Are there such things as miracles, everyday or otherwise?

Yes, look around you people; miracles aren't all big shows. You're alive aren't you?

3) Is there a God or other higher power out there?

Yes. Some being had to start the world off you know.

4) Guess what, the Apocalypse is coming...tomorrow.

a) So how will you spend your last day? I'd probably spend it with all the people who matter with me and I'd make sure to tell them that they matter. I'd probably also do what Claire answered; I too would probably call up all the people who've impacted my life in any way and make sure that they know that. Then I'd probably go and resolve any lingering animosity between my fellow human beings, and me no sense spending eternity mad at each other.

b) Predict how the world will spend its last day. I can see it now...

Vendor: Come and get your Apocalypse souvenirs! Only $5.99! Remember this moment forever!

Bush: This is just another ploy by terrorists to scare Americans. There is no Armageddon and when you wake up tomorrow the world will still be here.

Bin Laden: We will be rewarded for our deeds very soon.

Palestine: In the end we have won against the Israelis.

Israel: We have survived and won against the Palestinians.

Random Person: Honey, grab the kids we're spending the night in the underground bunker.

Now the smart people will go and make their peace with the people that they need to, with themselves or with their deity if need be. The smart governments will realize that the winner of a war no longer matters since the world is ending and battles over land will cease since they won't be here long enough to enjoy it. And all these smart people will spend their last day with those who matter to them.

5) Okay, you're dead. What should we do with your body?

If possible it'd be nice to donate some of my organs so that someone else gets the chance to live but beyond that I'm not sure. Maybe cremation? If I do get cremated I'd like to get scattered in a beautiful peaceful area otherwise bury me in a pretty cemetery.

6) Is there something beyond death? If so, what do you think it is.

Yes, I'm pretty sure there is. I have no idea what it's like since I haven't been there but hopefully we'll get a chance to have all our questions answered by that Creator of ours.

7) If you were given the chance to see your entire future would you take it? Why or why not?

No because knowing the outcome of every aspect of my life would totally suck. Think about it, you know who you'll fall in love with, who you'll marry, what job you have, if you have kids and what becomes of them and even when and how you'll die. And once I know if I don't like it I'll try my best to change it and then my future will change since I'm changing my past. I personally would like to see what surprises life has in store for me.

8) Name one thing that has the ability to transcend all boundaries. Why did you pick it?

Well, basically any human emotion transcends all boundaries and so does laughter but Claire and Lauren already took laughter and as much as I like that choice I have another one. Music is another thing that transcends all boundaries. In this world of over 5 billion people, more than 180 countries and countless languages one thing evident in basically every culture is music. Music, no matter what kind, has an impact on all of us and it's one of the few things that can be communicated to all no matter what language we speak.

9) What is the one trait that you value the most in another human being? Why?

The ability to accept others for who they are not who we wish them to be. I guess that's kind of like Claire's the ability not to judge. Very often people have problems accepting others for who they are because who they are is completely different from who they thought they were or who society says they should be. If we could all accept others just as they are and don't try to change them then the world would be a much more pleasant place.

10) Could you honestly say that you're happy, truly happy, with yourself and where you are in life?

I'm as happy as an 18-year-old who's still discovering who she really is can be. I'm blessed with friends who accept me for who I am and care about me, I'm off to college and I have the rest of my life in front of me. I'm as happy as a clam.

11) Recipe for happiness.

A generous heaping of laughter and friends, a sense of inner peace (since you can't be truly happy if you're not happy with yourself first), doing what you love and some good food like chocolate? I'm still 18; my recipe for happiness has yet to get some tangible ingredients.

12) Love at first sight?

Totally possible, if you find love at first sight then you are one of the lucky few.

13) Soul mates?

I'm pretty sure we all have one out there and those who find theirs are extremely lucky indeed.

14) Is everything in life black or white?

If it was then I never got the memo. I tend to see the world in the colors of the rainbow and some shades of gray.

15) If time and money were no object where would you go?

If that was the case I'd never stop traveling.

16) Why is it a good idea to challenge your beliefs?

Challenging them makes you stand up for them and in doing that you get to see if you really believe in them.

17) Why is this a bad wish? I wish that there were no bad days

If there were no bad days then you could never truly appreciate your good days because you'd never know what a bad day was like.

18) Explain this quote: Imagination is more important than knowledge.
-Albert Einstein

This is why Einstein was a genius. I think that it means that knowledge itself isn't as important as what you do with it. You could have all the knowledge in the entire world but if you don't have the imagination needed to see what you could do with it then all the knowledge is as lost to you as to any village idiot, so to speak. Think about it, if the Wright brothers never imagined that people could fly, as birds do then there'd be no planes.
